One of the Biggest Marketing Myths

One of the biggest myths is that followers = influence.

It takes very little effort to click the "like" button, but it takes more of an investment to leave a comment, give an email address, buy your book, donate to your charity, show up at your event or purchase your product.

And those are your loyal followers. Its a lot smaller, but worth the time to take care of and nurture those relationships.

Below are 4 ways to get found and better engage with them:

  1. SEO - How your content will get found. Huge topic, so just to get started, Google "how to optimize my blog/video/podcast."
  2. Social Media - Use it to post, but also engage with others. This means respond to every direct message and comment, leave comments on other's, and participate in groups on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.
  3. While we're on social media - Let's talk about hashtags. They are very important to being found by NEW people who are looking for what you have to say on Instagram and here on LinkedIn. If you're not sure where to start with hashtags, reach out to me with a direct message and let me know what you do, who you serve and what you love about it. I'll send you a list of 15 relevant hashtags you can use throughout your LinkedIn posts.
  4. Collaborate with others to cross-promote one another and reach new audiences organically. You can also reach out to others about guest blogging or being a podcast guest and add value to their audience that way.
